Living in the tropical rainforests of the Surinam, in South America, these colorful little frogs grow to 1-1.5" in length. Like all species of the dart frog family, they are diurnal, meaning they are more active during the day than at night, which helps potential prey recognize their bright coloring and move on to a less dangerous food source! While they can be found along streams among boulders and brush, they lack toe webbing, making them poor swimmers. As they live in such a small range with isolated populations, this species is highly vulnerable to human activities, such as over collection for the pet trade, as well as natural factors, such as drought.
