This rare species of frog was discovered in 1982, and can only be found in a very narrow range of western Florida. They have rough dark green or brown backs, black mottled undersides, yellow throats, and light spots on the lower jaw. Two unique features include its lack of webbing between some if its toes and a distinct call that sounds more like a chuckle. Making their home within small, cool, clear streams, they have lost substantial habitat due to residential developments where streams are converted into chains of lakes.
